CELEBRATING CHILDREN!
FOUNTAIN CITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ’S
CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
HOLDS OPEN HOUSE

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord.
(Psalm 127:3a)

Fountain City Presbyterian Church’s (FCPC) Child Development Center (CDC) celebrated one of its most important ministries by holding an Open House for its Child Development Center. Parents and children came to visit their children’s teachers, classrooms, and enjoy refreshments.

The CDC ministry at FCPC has been in operation since 1997, educating, nurturing and caring for precious little lives while parents work. Leia, age 5, and former student at the CDC, was there to visit her former teachers and see Ella, her baby sister’s, teacher. Leia, now a Kindergartener in public school, said that the thing she missed most at the CDC, was playing with her friends. Leia’s mother, Laura, shared why she would recommend FCPC’s CDC to anyone looking for a quality daycare center. She believes it is a safe and caring environment for her child. FCPC is also Laura’s family’s church home and therefore feels it is like “home” to her family. She spoke many words of praise for the CDC teachers,

Misty, a teacher at the CDC, worked with Leia’s class for a whole year before it was time for them to leave for Kindergarten. Misty was overwhelmed with emotion telling how much her class meant to her. She explained how she had become so attached to each child after spending all day everyday with each precious one. To let them go, was very hard. Now Misty has a new group of 6 children and her class can hold up to 9. She spends a lot of her personal time coming up with her own curriculum preparing them for kindergarten, and making each day so fun. She even has pets in the class for the children to enjoy.

Another teacher, Marely, 5-year veteran as well as a FCPC church member, teaches the children some Spanish in her class.

Zach's parents commented on what a difference the CDC has made in Zach’s life. "He gets plenty of individual attention in a caring and learning atmosphere. However, one day at home, he confused us by using sign language he had learned at the CDC."

The Child Development Center at FCPC enrolls children as young as 6 weeks of age up to 5 years old. Their hours of care are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and they serve breakfast, a hot lunch and an afternoon snack.

Kim Wright, who has been the director for the past 3 years, would be happy to speak with those interested in enrolling their child or in obtaining more information. She may be reached at 687-0815.
