Other Opportunities
While we do
not currently have a regularly rehearsing instrumental ensemble,
instrumentalists have opportunity to use their skills to lead in
worship at Fountain City Presbyterian Church. If you have
instrumental skills, please contact the music director. We want
to see you use your musical gifts to enhance our worship.

We Value Our Music Ministry

At Fountain City Presbyterian
Church we believe music should be next to the Word of God – and
that is where it is found in our services. We sing words from
scripture, words based on scripture, and words that reflect the
thoughts of scripture.
We also present instrumental
music in our services that reflects the nature of God and His
working in our lives. Whether the beautiful expressions of the
organ, a piano solo, an instrumental ensemble, or the ringing of
the handbell choir, instrumental music helps the congregation
focus on God and His nature.
Our Music Ministry welcomes
preschoolers through senior adults to express their musical
gifts in praise of our Creator and Lord. We hope all those whom
God has gifted with musical ability or a love of music will join
one of our music ministry groups and help us glorify God.

Our Purpose
We
believe God has given the gift of music and musical talent and
that music enhances worship.
We dedicate these gifts in our worship,
commit our time, share our lives, and reach for the highest
level of performance.
This mission
statement hangs prominently on the wall in the Dr. J.W. Phifer
Choir Room as a constant reminder of our ministry as church
musicians.
Musical Opportunities
We urge
anyone who loves music or has been gifted with musical talent to
join our music ministry. We have a musical group for anyone
from kindergarten through senior adult. The Chancel Choir
rehearses and sings year-round. The season for other music
ministry groups extends from September-May.
Cherub Choir
(3 Years - First Grade)
Part of our
WOW program, our preschool music group meets at 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesdays. Here children can learn basic music skills and
concepts about God and His creation. These music activities
help set the stage for future participation in music in
worship. Occasionally our Cherub Choir presents music at
selected programs.
Youth Choir I
(2nd-5th Grades)
In Youth
Choir I children develop musical skills and spiritual concepts
while presenting two seasonal programs during the year. The
choir rehearses in the Choir Room Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
Handbell Choir
Chancel Choir (Adults)
We encourage
older youth and adults who desire to serve God with their voices
to join the Chancel Choir that provides service music and an
anthem for the 11:00 a.m. worship service each Sunday. The
Chancel Choir prepares special musical services for the
Christmas and Easter seasons. The choir provides music for
other special services throughout the year. The choir presents
a wide variety of challenging and beautiful music to powerfully
proclaim God’s Word to the congregation, beautifully speak to
God on behalf of the congregation, and joyfully encourage the
congregation. The Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesdays at 7:30
p.m.
